Gold tops $7.8 on Omicron fears to drive safe-haven buying

New York gold futures ended positive on Dec. 1. Omicron strain drives investors to buy gold as a safe haven asset.

The COMEX (Commodity Exchange) gold contract will be delivered in February. It was up $7.8, or 0.44%, at $1,784.3/ounce.

Silver metal contract for delivery in December It was down 47.6 cents, or 2.09%, at $22.339 an ounce.

The platinum contract will be delivered in Jan. It was up $7.9, or 0.85%, at $935.2/ounce.

Palladium contract delivered in March It was up $48, or 2.8%, at $1,753.50 an ounce.

Labor data released last night, Automated Data Processing, Inc. (ADP) and Moody's Analytics said: Private sector jobs added 534,000 in November. 506,000 jobs were higher than analysts' expectations, but below 570,000 in October.
